Ottawa — Baldwin led 25-13 at halftime before Ottawa made a second-half comeback in a girls basketball sub-state semifinal on Friday.

Baldwin (14-7) will play Paola (17-4) in the sub-state championship game tonight at 8 p.m. in Ottawa.

Tonganoxie 49, Bonner Springs 45, OT

Tonganoxie — Tonganoxie opened with a 7-0 run in the fourth quarter to take the lead over top-seeded Bonner Springs (17-4), but the Braves forced overtime.

Tonganoxie (14-7) scored the first six points of overtime and never trailed. Jenny Whitledge blocked a Bonner Springs shot with 18.2 seconds remaining, and Hannah Kemp made it a two-score game with a free throw with 4.4 seconds left.

Whitledge led THS with 15 points and 11 rebounds and Emily Soetaert added 13 points.

The Chieftains play Atchison (15-6) at 6 p.m. today at THS in the sub-state championship game.
