Voter registration deadline is Feb. 5

Douglas County residents who are not registered to vote have until Tuesday to be eligible to vote in the upcoming municipal primary election.

The primary elections are Feb. 26. Advance voting in those elections begins Wednesday.

Deputy County Clerk Benjamin Lampe said voter registration will be open at the County Courthouse until 5 p.m. Tuesday. Voters can also register online through 11:59 p.m.

Online registrations are managed through the Kansas Department of Revenue, https://www.kdor.org/voterregistration.

The only primary election in Douglas County this year will be for the Lawrence City Commission, where 11 candidates have filed to run for three seats. The primary will narrow that field to six candidates who will advance to the April 2 general election.

There will be no primary race for the Lawrence school board. Four candidates have filed for the three seats, so all four will be on the April 2 general election ballot.
