Braymer, Mo. — Thomas Bachert scored 20 points, and Veritas Christian won its first-round game against Wentworth Military on Monday at the Braymer Invitational.

The large margin of victory offered plenty of positives for the Eagles, but Veritas coach Gary Hammer singled out the Eagles’ 7-for-10 performance at the free-throw line as particularly promising.

“We had been struggling, so it was nice to see us shoot a good percentage this time,” Hammer said.

Veritas (8-1) will play a yet-to-be-determined opponent in the second round of the tournament at 9 p.m. Thursday.
