Kansas center Jeff Withey shares Big 12 player of the week honors

Kansas center Jeff Withey earned Big 12 player of the week honors, the conference announced Monday. Withey shares this week’s award with Kansas State guard Angel Rodriguez.

Withey posted 16.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game as the Jayhawks recorded wins over KSU and Texas last week. The senior shot 47.6 percent from the field and made 80 percent of his free throws while blocking seven shots and grabbing six steals.

Withey posted a double-double in both games, finishing with 17 points and 10 boards against the Wildcats and following with 15 points and 10 rebounds against the Longhorns.

Withey also became the Big 12 career leader in blocked shots with his 265th rejection in Saturday’s game against Texas.
