Veritas boys, girls lose at Manhattan CHIEF

Manhattan — Veritas fell behind early in the first quarter, 13-5, and never closed the deficit, losing 51-35 at Manhattan CHIEF on Tuesday night.

Hannah Gloss scored a team-high 11 points for Veritas.

“Another tough offensive night for us,” said Veritas coach Kevin Shelton. “We’ve run into a few games where we’re struggling to score. It got us into a deficit in the first quarter, and we’ve got to find a way through that.”

Veritas (8-11) hosts Topeka Cair Paravel in Eudora on Saturday.

Manhattan CHIEF 53, Veritas boys 48

Manhattan — First-half turnovers plagued Veritas in a 53-48 loss to Manhattan CHIEF.

The Eagles trailed by just three points at halftime despite committing 17 first-half turnovers.

“They are one of the best teams in the league this year,” Veritas coach Gary Hammer said. “We really battled them hard. We took them down to the wire.”

Elijah Harvey led the Eagles with 16 points. Andrew Currier added 10 points, and Caleb Holland scored nine points.

Veritas (13-5) will entertain Topeka Cair Paravel in Eudora on Saturday.
