Jewell will talk about “The Selected Letters of Willa Cather,” published in April, and participate in a question-and-answer session. Books on sale will be provided by the Raven Book Store. The event was organized by the Lawrence Public Library.

There is no cost of admission, but reservations must be made by contacting Polli Kenn, events and programs coordinator, at pkenn@lawrencepubliclibrary.org or 785-843-3833 extension 132. As of Thursday afternoon, she said about 10 spaces remained.

The publication of Cather’s letters had been forbidden until 2011. Over 550 of them are collected in the book. Kenn said the library was able to arrange the event through a contact in the Willa Cather Foundation.
