Aquahawks openings: The Lawrence Aquahawks swimming team is always accepting new members. The Aquahawks are a year-round USA Swimming-sponsored competitive swim team. Girls volleyball clinic: Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department is enrolling for its spring girls volleyball clinic. The clinic is open to girls in fourth through eighth grades and will cover the fundamentals, skills and rules needed to better prepare them for school team competition. The clinic will run 9-10:45 a.m. for fourth through sixth grades and 11 a.m-1 p.m. for sixth through eighth grades. The clinic will be held three consecutive Saturdays, April 20 through May 4 at East Lawrence Recreation Center (1245 E. 15th St.). Cost is $50 per participant, which includes a clinic T-shirt. Trail Hawks race: The Lawrence Trail Hawks will host the fifth annual Shoreline Shuffle 5K Trail Run on May 4 at Clinton Lake’s North Shore Trails. The Shoreline Shuffle begins and ends at the southwest corner of campground one in Clinton Lake State Park. 5K Family Fun Run: Sunflower Elementary’s Marathon Club is having its annual 5K fundraiser on Sunday, May 5 at 2 p.m. Entry fees: Pre-Registered $12 per runner/$25 maximum for family. Day of race $15 per runner/ $35 maximum for family. Registration begins at 1 p.m. and is at the Clinton Lake Sporting Complex softball fields. We will start there and run around the arboretum/jogging trail. Medals for top three finishers in gender and grade. All participants signed up before April 28 will be guaranteed a backpack.
