Visiting Nurses is seeking volunteers to help as hospice patient companions and hospice massage therapists. Companions will work directly with patients and their families by providing companionship, respite care, and/or relief for primary caregiver. No prior medical knowledge is required, and training will be provided. Massage therapists must have previous training and experience in massage therapy, must be comfortable working around patients’ physical restrictions and must have understanding of contraindications. Immediate needs

• Lawrence Memorial Hospital needs volunteers for a variety of positions. Some of the greatest needs are help at the LMH gift shop, attendants for the West information and admissions desks, and escort volunteers. Orientations are offered regularly. • Douglas County AIDS Project (DCAP) is looking for several volunteers to help with its 20th annual Red Ribbon Art Auction on Saturday, Nov. 10. Volunteers are needed to help with a variety of opportunities. If you like interacting with the public, you can volunteer to help with registration, greet guests, check coats or act as a bid spotter/recorder during the live auction. Help is also needed behind the scenes with setting up the event, wrapping art and cleaning up afterward. For more details, please contact Leah Charles at 316-993-5324.

• Trinity In-Home Care is seeking volunteers who would be willing to pick up and do laundry for Imagine Drop-In Childcare once per week. This opportunity requires volunteers who have access to laundry machines and are willing to run them at their own expense; detergent will be provided. • The United Way Roger Hill Volunteer Center has printed its “How to Help at the Holidays” brochures and is currently distributing them throughout the community. The brochures include information about agencies with “Adopt-a-Family” programs, volunteer opportunities for annual holiday-related events and more. If you’d like to pick up a copy of the brochure, please visit the United Way offices anytime from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
