Topeka ? Freshman Bryce Hinde and junior Alison Lusk finished 2-3 in the 200-yard breaststroke to help Kansas University swimming and diving lock up a second-place finish at the Kansas Classic, which concluded Sunday at Capitol Federal Natatorium.

“Bryce had a really nice 200 breaststroke, and she is really coming along in that event,” KU coach Clark Campbell said. “I thought Alison Lusk ended the meet about as well as she could have. That was her best race of the weekend, so I am really happy that she ended on that note.”

Lawrence native Emma Reaney, swimming for Notre Dame, won the 200 breast in 2:13.55.

KU freshman Haley Molden and sophomore Deanna Marks picked up runner-up finishes in the 100-yard freestyle (51.64) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.98), respectively, while freshman Chelsie Miller placed third in the 1,650-yard freestyle (17:04.44).

No. 21-ranked Notre Dame won the meet with 976.5 points, and KU had 853.5.

Nebraska (674) finished third, followed by Iowa State (410), Rice (381) and Nebraska-Omaha (170).

The Kansas Classic marked the end of the fall portion of the season for the KU swimmers.
