40 years ago: New KU childcare center borrows to pay construction costs

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Nov. 11, 1972:

The director of the Hilltop Child Care Center at Kansas University announced today that the center had borrowed a short-term $6,000 loan from the KU Endowment Association to pay off bills for construction and equipment. Judy Bencivengo said that the decision to take out the loan had been made last summer when plans were being made to construct the center, which had been created by renovating the Student Activities Building across the street from the Kansas Union. The center had opened last August for children of KU students, faculty and staff.
