Kansas men’s golf places 8th in Ariz.

? Kansas University men’s golfer Chris Gilbert carded a 2-under 70 to finish in a tie for ninth place on Saturday after the final day at the Desert Shootout.

The Jayhawks ended the tournament in eighth place as a team.

Gilbert, who shot a three-round, 5-under total of 211, finished in the top 10 of a tournament for the fourth time in his career.

“I’m definitely happy with Chris’ play this week,” KU coach Kit Grove said. “He played solid for the entire tournament to get into the top 10. He’s kind of rounding back into form. Hopefully he can build off this week going into Charlotte next week.”

Other Jayhawks to place at the tournament included Alex Gutesha (tied for 31st), Dylan McClure (t-36th), Paul Harris (t-46th) and Doug Quinones (t-57th).

Kansas will compete next on March 31 at the Irish Creek Collegiate in Charlotte, N.C.
