Reaney 23rd in swim prelims

? A successful week at the U.S. Swimming Olympic Trials for Emma Reaney wrapped up Friday.

The Lawrence native and rising sophomore at Notre Dame finished 23rd in the prelims for the 200 breaststroke, her final event of the week. Reaney finished in 2:30.93, just 0.74 seconds behind 16th place, the final qualifying slot for the semifinals.

On Wednesday at the trials, Reaney finished 13th in the 200 IM semifinals.

Lawrence’s Katie Price, of Ad Astra Area Aquatics, also swam in the 200 back prelims, and finished 59th, with a time of 2:36.25.

Incoming Kansas University freshmen Haley Molden and Chelsie Miller each competed in one vent Friday. Molden, a Topeka Washburn Rural product, placed 105th out of 133 competitors in the 100 freestyle with a time of 57.68. Miller, a Houston native, was 111th in the 200 breaststroke in 2:43.24.

Molly Albrecht, a Free State High graduate who swims for AAAA, will compete today at CenturyLink Center in the 200 back prelims.
