Omaha, Neb. ? Lawrence native Emma Reaney, a soon-to-be sophomore at Notre Dame, was one of 16 swimmers to advance to Wednesday night’s semifinals in the 200 individual medley at the U.S. Olympic trials.

Reaney finished 13th overall in the semifinals, finishing in 2:15.51.

A Lawrence High graduate, Reaney came into the meet seeded 42nd in the event and had the ninth-fastest time, a personal-best 2:14.79, Wednesday afternoon in the prelims.

Her Olympic trials aren’t over, though. Reaney will swim Friday in the 200 breast prelims.

Former KU swimmer Danielle Herrmann (2005-09), a current Kansas volunteer assistant, finished first in the fifth heat of the 200 IM during prelims. Herrmann’s time of 2:18.07 placed her 33rd overall.

Not too far behind Herrmann was KU junior Brooke Brull, who finished the 200 IM with her second best time of 2:21.25, 85th overall.

The final swimmer with Kansas ties to toe the blocks on Wednesday morning was incoming freshman Chelsie Miller, who was competing in her second of three Olympic Trials events. The Houston, Texas native was competing for the Cypress-Fairbanks Swim Club coached by former KU assistant Clayton Cagle. Miller finished the fourth heat three spots behind her future teammate, Brooke Brull, with a time of 2:24.50, which put her in 107th place overall.
