Man cited for punching bar window

A man was cited for battery and criminal damage after he was accused of punching and breaking the front-glass window at Fatso’s, 1016 Mass., during a disturbance early Friday morning.

Kim Murphree, a Lawrence police spokeswoman, said police were called about 2 a.m. to Fatso’s for a fight. Witnesses saw a large group of people in an altercation in the 1000 block of Massachusetts Street and then a man punch a the window causing $400 in damage. The suspect ran, and a Fatso’s employee followed and confronted him, Murphree said.

The suspect is accused of punching the employee in the face and running away. Officers later found the suspect in the emergency room at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for lacerations to his arm and hand. Police cited him for battery and criminal damage.
