From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Jan. 13, 1972:

As the 1972 Kansas legislative session was getting started, area lawmakers were interested in hearing the opinions of their constituents. A short questionnaire published in the Journal-World by Rep. John Vogel, Rep. Morris Kay, and Sen. Arden Booth asked for responses on several questions, including “Would you like to see accelerated construction of highways financed with bonds and toll revenue?” and “Would you like to see a mandatory work program for welfare recipients who are capable of working to work out their assistance grants?” Other questions focused on such things as tax increases, a state lottery and/or pari-mutuel betting, no-fault insurance laws, and state tax incentives to business and industry for job development programs.
