Final library director candidate to interview today

An administrator in the Wichita Public Library system will be the third and final candidate to interview to become the next director of the Lawrence Public Library.

Jamie Prothro will be in Lawrence today to interview with the library’s board and other stakeholders. Prothro also will give a public presentation at 3 p.m. in the library auditorium on the future of libraries.

Prothro has been the customer service administrator for the Wichita Public Library since 2007. In the position, Prothro oversees much of the budgeting, policy issues, planning and managerial hiring for the Wichita system, which includes eight branch libraries.

Prothro received her undergraduate degree from Wichita State University in 1999, and a master’s degree in library sciences from Emporia State University in 2003.

Library leaders are seeking a new director to replace Bruce Flanders, who retired in October and then took another position with an area library.
