Rural Lawrence man killed while cutting down trees
A 56-year-old Lawrence man died after he was hit and pinned by a tree while cutting down trees Thursday just west of Lone Star.
Steven D. Hoover was cutting trees on a relative’s property Thursday afternoon, said Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Steve Lewis. A relative found Hoover trapped under a tree around 3:30 p.m. and called emergency workers.
Hoover, a 1974 Lawrence High graduate, was taken by air ambulance to Stormont-Vail Hospital, where he later died.
