25 years ago: Florida cocaine dealers arrested in Lawrence

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Aug. 10, 1987:

After a two-month undercover operation, local law enforcement officials had arrested in Lawrence a man and woman from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on charges of possessing and selling cocaine. “We believe we have cut off the supply of cocaine to Lawrence,” said Asst. Dist. Atty. Rick Trapp this morning. Mohammad A. Husein, 22, and Terryl Dianne Russell, 30, who were formally charged today in Douglas County District Court. had been under observation after arriving at Kansas City International Airport over the weekend. They had been arrested at a Lawrence motel after undercover officers had purchased the cocaine. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation was still analyzing the approximately one-pound amount of the drug seized at the motel.
