Test of KU emergency system planned for Tuesday afternoon

Kansas University intends to test its emergency public address system, including an external speaker array, at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

During the test, a three-second tone will sound, followed by a test message.

About a minute after the public address system test, the external speaker array, set up in the west parking area of Murphy Hall will be tested.

The array is designed to be heard at a half-mile radius and can be heard indoors and outdoors. KU is considering adding a similar service to its emergency notification system.

In case of inclement weather, the test will be postponed until Thursday.
