Oklahoma sweeps KU softball

? Kansas University’s softball team outhit seventh-ranked Oklahoma, but the Jayhawks fell to the Sooners, 6-2, on Sunday at Martina Hynes Field.

KU faced OU All-American Keliani Ricketts (17-4) for the second time in the three-game series.

On Friday, an 8-0 OU victory, Ricketts pieced together her first career perfect game against the Jayhawks. Despite losing again, Kansas — led by freshman Chanin Naudin’s 3-for-3 day at the plate, including a double and two RBIs — tagged Ricketts with a season-high nine hits and two runs in the rematch.

All of the game’s scoring came in the second inning, when the Jayhawks struck first, thanks to Naudin’s double, which scored Liz Kocon and Lexi Bryant.

But the Sooners responded by batting in six runs, including a two-run home run by Lauren Chamberlain, who hit her fifth homer of the series and her Big 12-best 17th of the year.

Kansas pitcher Kristin Martinez (5-2) took the loss and allowed five runs on four hits in 12/3 innings.

The Jayhawks (23-10 overall, 2-7 Big 12) will face Baylor next, starting on Friday with a double-header in Waco, Texas.
