Leavenworth man dies at Grand Canyon

The National Park Service says a Kansas man has died during a rafting trip in the Grand Canyon.

Participants on a river trip Sunday reported by satellite phone that two men had been washed out their boat at Lava Falls on the Colorado River. One man made it to safety, while a second man, identified as 64-year-old Gary Aus of Leavenworth, Kan., was swept downriver.

The National Park Service and Coconino County Medical Examiner are conducting an investigation.
