Reenie Stogsdill shares Sunflower softball coach of year honors

Lawrence High softball coach Reenie Stogsdill was recently named the Sunflower League Co-Coach of the Year, as voted on by the league’s coaches.

Stogsdill shared the honor with Olathe East’s Jeff Hulse. Coincidentally, Stogsdill’s eighth-seeded Lions (14-8) will face Hulse’s top-seeded Olathe East squad (22-0) at 10 a.m. on Friday in the first round of the Class 6A state tournament at Kansas University’s Hoglund Ballpark.

Free State’s Samantha O’Brien and A’Liyah Rogers and Lawrence High’s Kristen Bell made the All-Sunflower League first team.

The Lions’ Lauren Massey and Lauren Byrn cracked the second team.

Kasey Waite and Mallory Reynolds were named honorable mention.

Free State’s Alex Hill and Courtney Parker were also named honorable mention.
