Offices, services closing Monday in observance of Memorial Day
Government offices and public services will be closed Monday in observance of Memorial Day. Here’s a look:
Closed
- City, county offices; municipal and federal courts, as well as supporting offices.
- No yard trimmings collection. (Can set out with regular trash.)
- Parking is free in Downtown Lawrence.
- Banks.
- U.S. Postal Service. No deliveries.
- Kansas University.
- Lawrence Public Library (also closed Sunday).
- Lawrence Transit System buses will not run.
- USA Today does not publish.
- Lawrence Meals on Wheels. No deliveries.
- Douglas County Senior Services Senior Meals Program. No deliveries.
- Parks and recreation centers, except aquatic centers.
Open
- Lawrence Interdenominational Nutrition Kitchen, 221 W. 10th. Doors open at noon; serving from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
- Liquor stores in Lawrence legally can be open, 9 a.m.-11 p.m.
- The Journal-World does publish; customer service open, 5:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.
- Indoor aquatic center at Free State High and outdoor aquatic center at Seventh and Kentucky streets.
