Hutchinson Correctional Facility officer accused of giving inmate tobacco

? A 22-year-old Hutchinson Correctional Facility officer is due in court June 7 on charges of providing tobacco to an inmate.

The Hutchinson News reports Timothy Ravenstein was arrested May 12 on suspicion of trafficking tobacco into the prison. Authorities said in an arrest report that he admitted hiding more than four ounces of loose tobacco in his groin area and later selling it to an inmate for $50.

Ravenstein appeared last week before a Reno County judge on felony charges of trafficking contraband and conspiring to traffic contraband into a correctional facility.

No phone number could be located for Ravenstein in Kansas, and it was not clear if he had a lawyer.
