Hutchinson ? Developers of a proposed $300 million high-voltage electric transmission line in western Kansas have submitted the route to state regulators for approval.

The Hutchinson News reported that ITC Great Plains has applied to the Kansas Corporation Commission for a siting permit to build the 345-kilovolt electric transmission line known as the V-plan.

The line is intended to connect the electric grid of eastern and western Kansas, allowing wind-generated energy to be moved to markets in Kansas and elsewhere.

The line will run approximately 120 miles from a substation in Spearville to new substations in Clark County and Medicine Lodge.

The KCC will hold a public hearing on the application in 45 to 60 days. It then must issue an order approving a route within 120 days of the application date.
