Riley County police report sharp increase in Fake Patrick’s Day incidents

? Riley County law enforcement officials were busy over the weekend policing the Fake Patrick’s Day event in Manhattan.

Riley County police reported a 65 percent increase in the number of incidents they responded to this year over last year during the Fake Patrick’s Day event Saturday in Aggieville.

The department said police officers handled 766 calls for service, which included noise complaints, fights in progress, and battery reports during the pre-St. Patrick’s Day festivities.

The Topeka Capital-Journal reports that police filed 151 reports this year, compared to 134 in 2010.
