KU names members of steering committee for upcoming capital campaign

Kansas University Endowment Association has named several KU donors to the steering committee of an upcoming capital campaign.

They join three alumni couples who are co-chairs of the campaign: Kurt and Sue Watson, of Andover; Tom and Jill Docking, of Wichita; and former Gov. Mark and Stacy Parkinson, of Potomac, Md.

The new members of the committee are:

• David Booth of Austin, Texas, CEO of Dimensional Fund Advisors.

• Joe and Jean Brandmeyer, of El Paso, Texas, founders and former owners of Enturia.

• Linda Zarda Cook, of Naples, Fla., a retired executive of Royal Dutch Shell’s global Natural Gas and Power division in the Netherlands.

• Ed and Helen Healy, of Eastborough. Ed is an attorney in a Wichita firm and Helen earned an MBA from KU.

• Jay Howard, of Austin, Texas, president of JDH Investments and a chairman of the KU Alumni Association board of directors.

• Drue Jennings, of Prairie Village, senior counsel with the law firm Polsinelli Shughart PC in Kansas City, Mo.

• Brian and Buffy King, of Leawood. Brian is affiliated with Frontier Wealth Management in Kansas City, Mo., and Buffy is a civic leader who earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology at KU.

• Joe and Susan Morris, of Leawood. Joe is former chairman of the Capital Corp. Susan is a civic leader.

• Charles and Ann Rhoades, of Mission Hills. Charles is a physician and president of Dickson-Diveley Midwest Orthopaedic Clinic. Ann attended nursing school at KU and is a civic leader.

• Linda Ellis Sims, of Independence, Mo., an executive with ExxonMobil Corp.

• Michael Shinn, of Highland Heights, Ohio, a certified financial planner and owner of Shinn Financial Services.

• Tom Wiggans of Olathe, chair of Excaliard Pharmaceuticals.

• Forrest and Sally Hoglund, of Dallas, are honorary members of the committee. Forrest is owner of Hoglund Interests. Sally earned a bachelor’s in political science at KU.

A public launch for the campaign is scheduled for spring 2012.
