Kansas schools to receive $92 million after state delays

? An official says Kansas schools should be getting $92 million in aid this week after it had been held up by a cash crunch in state government.

Deputy Education Commissioner Dale Dennis told The Associated Press on Tuesday that the state’s 289 school districts should receive their aid by Friday.

The money represents half of the aid the state was supposed to send districts on March 1.

A temporary cash crunch forced the state to delay half the aid so that it could meet its payroll and pay other bills on time. It was the third consecutive month that some of school districts’ aid has been delayed.

The state frequently has cash flow problems early in the year as it waits for Kansans to pay their individual income taxes.
