Kansas man sentenced in Nebraska for failing to register as sex offender

June 24, 2011

— A Kansas man has been sentenced in Nebraska to more than two years in federal prison for failing to register as a convicted sex offender.

U.S. Attorney for Nebraska Deborah Gilg says 38-year-old Scott Zahradnik, of Salina, Kan., was sentenced Thursday in Lincoln's federal court to 27 months.

Zahradnik was arrested by Hastings police in December on a warrant from Kansas charging him with failure to register as a sex offender in that state. Zahradnik was required to register as a sex offender after being convicted in 2004 of indecent solicitation of a minor in Kansas. Upon entering Nebraska, Zahradnik also failed to register in Nebraska.
