Topeka woman killed after being hit by 6 cars on Interstate 29

? A woman who died after being hit by as many as six cars on Interstate 29 near Kansas City has been identified as 25-year-old Menina Jones of Topeka.

Police Sgt. Bill Mahoney says Jones ran into the path of a northbound car early Wednesday as she tried to cross the highway north of Kansas City. She was hit by at least five other vehicles before traffic was diverted.

Mahoney says police believe Jones was dead after being hit by the first vehicle. He says the driver of that car tried to avoid Jones but couldn’t avoid hitting her. The driver was not charged.

Police still aren’t sure what prompted Jones to run across the interstate in the dark.
