• On July 1, the CitiFinancial office in Lawrence, 1525 W. Sixth St., changed its name to OneMain Financial. To celebrate, the branch will hold a sweepstakes throughout the month of July. Customers and members of the community may be eligible. An official celebration, free and open to the public, will be held July 12 at the Lawrence branch.

• Stuart Wevik, Black Hills Corporation vice president of utility operations, announces the promotion of Vance Crocker, a South Dakota native, to the general manager position for Black Hills Energy – Kansas Gas operations. Crocker will work out of the utility’s Lawrence office and report to Wevik. Responsibilities for Kansas Gas operations are transitioning to Crocker from Steve Hanna, who has been serving as the interim leader of Kansas Gas operations. Hanna was recently promoted to director of corporate safety.

• In the aftermath of the recent devastation in Joplin, Mo., and the surrounding region, Peoples Bank locations across Kansas raised more than $15,000 in monetary donations for the American Red Cross. Peoples Bank also contributed $2,500 toward the final donation to the Red Cross.

• The Lawrence Chamber of Commerce and KU Small Business Development Center are partnering to provide a seminar, “Preparing for Disaster,” with Lt. Col. Dave Young, director of the Integrated Initiatives Office in the Adjutant General’s Department. The seminar will be from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Thursday at the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce, 646 Vt., Suite 200. There is no charge to attend and the event is open to all Lawrence businesses. Reservations are required and may be made at lawrencechamber.com.

• Meritrust Credit Union will hold a financial camp from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 18 at the Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive. There is no cost to attend and the camp is open to any student entering the fifth to eighth grade.
