Kansas State University at Salina close to offering flight training in Wichita

? After a year of planning, Kansas State University at Salina is close to offering flight training in Wichita this fall.

Dennis Kuhlman, dean of the Salina school, announced Thursday that the lessons will be offered at the National Center for Aviation Training, near Jabara Airport in north Wichita. The center offers aviation training but not flight training.

The Salina Journal reports that the flight training program must be approved by the Kansas Board of Regents.

Kuhlman says the new campus could serve 30 students. The Salina campus typically has 200 to 250 students in the professional pilot program.
