Murder trial delayed for Newton man accused of murdering girlfriend’s son

? The first-degree murder trial of a Kansas man accused of killing a 19-month-old boy will not start until March 28.

Twenty-seven-year-old Chad Carr, of North Newton, was scheduled to go on trial Jan. 28 in the death of Vincent Hill, his girlfriend’s son.

Harvey County Attorney David Yoder said Monday that Carr’s attorney asked for the delay to give a medical witness more time to prepare. Yoder also said a settlement conference was moved from Jan. 14 to Feb. 18.

Hill’s mother, Katheryn Nycole Dale, was sentenced last September to nearly three years in prison for child abuse and aggravated child endangerment.
