House Appropriations Committee to start focusing on state budget Wednesday

? Kansas lawmakers are preparing to start committee work this week, including reviews of state revenue collections.

Legislative leaders said committees would begin modified schedules on Tuesday. Each committee’s leader will decide when to hold the first organizational meeting.

The House Appropriations Committee will meet Wednesday to get a briefing on state revenues and the projected $550 million shortfall in the 2012 budget.

Technical problems delayed operation Monday of the Legislature’s website, which lists the members of the House and Senate and all bills as they’re introduced. The site is expected to be functioning by midweek.
