Duckwall-ALCO eliminates 39 more jobs in Abilene distribution center

January 8, 2011

— Duckwall-ALCO Stores has eliminated 39 more jobs at its warehouse distribution center in Abilene.

The announcement Wednesday means the Abilene-based company has cut 80 jobs at the warehouse since the start of 2010. The company now has about 160 workers.

The company’s distribution center in Abilene supplies all 214 ALCO stores in 23 states. Last year, the company announced it was closing its smaller Duckwall stores and putting the capital into its ALCO stores.

The Salina Journal reported Thursday that CEO Bruce Dale says he does not expect any more job reductions in the near future.
