4-H and FCE news for January 8, 2011

The Lone Star 4-H Club met Dec. 13 at Lone Star Church. The meeting was called to order by former club president Chris Berg. Katie Williams and Amanda Burgoon led the club in singing, “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.” Roll call was answered by “What Is Your Favorite Christmas Carol?” Rowan Plinsky gave a presentation on parliamentary procedure. After the meeting, gifts were wrapped for the club’s three adopted families. A game was played wherein two club members became “Christmas trees” and were decorated by other club members. Following a gift exchange, dessert was enjoyed.

Kanwaka FCE will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Beverly Bourque, 2425 Brookside Dr., Lawrence. The lesson, “Oh The Stories We Can Tell,” will be given by Charlene Winter.

The 59ers FCE will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the home of Rachel Purvis, 1133 Cynthia St. Marjorie Walton will present the program, “Recent Books By Or About Notable Women.”

Douglas County FCE and Kansas State Research and Extension Family and Consumer Sciences announce their January program “Vitamin D — Sunshine to Supplements.” Dr. Roger Dreiling will be presenting.
