Salvation Army’s toy shortage resolved

? The Christmas toy shortage for the Salvation Army in Topeka has been resolved.

The charitable group postponed a distribution scheduled for Tuesday morning to Thursday, saying it just didn’t have enough toys. Salvation Army officials appealed to the public to donate hundreds by toys by tonight.

But WIBW-TV reports that a mix-up in communications was to blame.

The station says the Marine Corps Reserve had collected hundreds of toys for the Salvation Army through its Toys for Tots program — but a misunderstanding left the boxes of toys awaiting pickup at a warehouse at Forbes Field.

The toys were delivered to the Salvation Army on Tuesday afternoon. They’ll be handed out Thursday morning.
