Kansas City, Kan. ? A federal judge in Kansas has sentenced a California man to life in prison for his role in a drug trafficking conspiracy.

The U.S. Attorney’s office says 27-year-old Samuel Barajas, of San Diego, was convicted in September of two methamphetamine charges and one count of using a cellphone for drug trafficking. He was sentenced Monday in federal court in Kansas City, Kan.

Prosecutors said Barajas was targeted during the investigation of a San Diego operation that was importing meth and cocaine into the U.S.

Investigators said Barajas was overheard giving orders for meth to be delivered to an address in the Johnson County town of Prairie Village. Authorities said they discovered a quantity of meth and nearly $70,000 in cash hidden at the northeastern Kansas property.
