40 years ago: Contract awarded for buildings at proposed lake

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Dec. 2, 1971:

  • Wilson Constructors, Inc., of Salina was the apparent low bidder for construction of an administrative building and parking area at the planned Clinton Reservoir. The company’s bid was $189,497 included construction of a 2,650-square-foot building, service station equipment, a parking area, recreation buildings, and a flagpole.
  • It was announced that Bruce Goodwin had been appointed manager of the Farmers Cooperative Assn. by the Co-op’s board of director. Raymond Pine had been elected president of the Co-Op for the 1972 fiscal year at a recent reorganization meeting, with Larry Schaake the new vice president and Hayden Wood secretary-treasurer.
