A large tree that’s sustained storm damage will be removed Thursday morning, which means that a four-block section of Kentucky Street will be closed.

The closure, between 19th and 15th streets, will start at 8:30 a.m. Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department officials anticipate the tree removal will take about two hours.

Department officials said in a news release that a large section of the tree, in the 1500 block of Kentucky, is in danger of falling.

They suggest using Massachusetts Street as a detour.
