4-H news for August 27, 2011

The Four Leaf Clover 4-H Club met Aug. 8 in the Dreher Building at the Douglas County Fairgrounds. President Kate McCurdy called the meeting to order and led the club in saying the flag salute. Twenty-one members were present. Briauna Huffman, acting as treasurer, gave a financial report. Parlementarian Karen Schneck gave a report. During committees reports, the banner committee announced the club banner won reserve champion at the county fair and would be going on to the state fair. Community leader Paula Aiken told the club achievement pin applications would be due at the September meeting. She also told the club that office elections would take place at the next meeting, and to e-mail what office you would like to run for by Sept. 8. Lastly, she reminded the club to call her or Sue Ashcraft if members needed help with record books. During the project leaders’ reports, Shannan Seely, pets project leader, told the club they would have a meeting soon. Foods leader Katrina Rothrock also told the club they would be having a project meeting soon. For program, the foods, spacetech, horse, rocketry, rabbits and fiber arts projects gave project talks. Kate and Anna McCurdy talked about their experience at Discovery Days. Recreation was tag led by Luna Stephens. The meeting concluded by saying the club pledge and motto. The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Douglas County Fairgrounds.
