25 years ago: Noria tract up for annexation

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Aug. 18, 1986:

Douglas County commissioners were considering approval of a city annexation of the 300-acre “Noria” tract north of Kansas Highway 10 and east of Farmland Industries. The tract was intended to be used for a proposed industrial park, a joint effort of the city, the county, and the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce. Total development costs were estimated at $7.89 million, with the city financing $1.56 million in sewer water improvements. The county was contributing $1.25 million to purchase the land and improve the roads, and the private sector was paying $5.08 million for the remainder of the project costs.
