Wichita mother testifies about son’s shooting death

? A Kansas mother has testified against one of the men accused of fatally shooting her 13-year-old son when he answered the door to their home.

Police and prosecutors call the killing of Miguel Andrade a case of mistaken identity. They say the men who set out to shoot someone in revenge the morning of June 20, 2010, went to the wrong house.

Testifying Tuesday in the trial of Alejandro Betancourt, Sylvia Martinez said she heard a loud bang and jumped out of bed, then heard her son screaming, “Mommy, Mommy.”

KSNW-TV reports that Betancourt’s lawyer says it was his client’s brother and another man who fired at the Andrade home, striking Miguel seven times. One of the other defendants pleaded guilty earlier to a reduced charge of second-degree murder.
