25 years ago: Police chase vehicle through south side of town

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for April 5, 1986:

Two Lawrence city police cars, a Douglas County sheriff’s vehicle, and a Kansas Highway Patrol car suffered minor damage when forcing a pickup truck off Clinton Parkway about a mile west of Wakarusa Drive. The white Ford pickup had been observed driving erratically near 23rd and Massachusetts and had then headed west to Lawrence Avenue, down Melholland Road, east on 22nd Street, south on Marvonne Road and then west again on Clinton Parkway before being forced off the road by a highway patrol car and a sheriff’s vehicle. The truck had then rolled over in a ditch. The driver of the pickup was later arrested on charges of drinking while intoxicated, reckless driving, attempting to elude police, driving left of center, having an illegal vehicle registration, and having no proof of insurance. He also had an outstanding city warrant for criminal trespass.
