25 years ago: Haskell student stabbed

According to John Poggio, professor of educational psychology and research at Kansas University, the test that state officials were considering for teacher certification was flawed and should be modified before being used. He said, “There is a lack of fit between the curriculum we require the students to take and what’s being tested.”

A 25-year-old Haskell Indian Junior College student had been treated for multiple stab wounds and released from Lawrence Memorial Hospital. There were few details available and “absolutely no suspects,” according to a police report. The student had approached two other Haskell students as they were walking to a convenience store. When he had collapsed, they discovered that he was bleeding and called an ambulance.
