Lawrence Public Library’s Fall Book Sale to open Thursday

More than 100,000 books will be available for purchase, typically for anywhere from 75 cents to $1.50 apiece, during the upcoming Fall Book Sale conducted by Friends of the Lawrence Public Library.

The sale opens with a “Members Only Night,” from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday inside the familiar tent at Seventh and Kentucky streets. Individuals may join at the door for $10; the cost for families is $15.

The sale will continue:

• 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday.

• 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 2.

• 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 3, “Half-Price Day.”

• 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 4, “$7 Bag Night.”

• 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 5, “$5 Bag Night.”

• 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 9, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 10, “Giveaway Days,” with all books free, no limit.

Proceeds from the sale support a variety of library programs and needs, including summer reading programs, author visits, purchases of materials and Internet access.
