Five Cadette Girl Scouts from Troop 7558 received their Silver Award at an April 5 ceremony in Kansas City, Mo. The Silver Award is the highest Girl Scout award for girls 11-14 or in sixth to ninth grades. Earning the award were Tia Barta, Courtney Cooper, Avery Hughes, Lacey Long and Kate McCurdy. The troop is led by advisors Tammy Barta, Tammie Bell, Carrie Cooper and Deedee Long.

The Troop’s Silver Award was a “Fit’s Inn” workshop for girls in grades second and third. Each Cadette Scout was responsible for putting together a portion of an all-morning rotation. The award required a minimum of 40 hours planning, research and providing the workshop. By completing this award, the Cadettes developed organization skills, leadership, time management, project management and self-development. Rotations included dance, team sports, an obstacle course, a walking exercise and stretching. Girls also learned about choosing healthy foods, how to make healthy snacks, which included information and a snack for diabetics, and taking care of our bodies.
