Operation Roll Out will support troops

Besides dealing with 120 degree weather, trying to sleep in areas without air conditioning during the middle of the day, and living halfway around the world from loved ones, many soldiers are also living without basic amenities such as toilet paper.

To help gather these commodities and raise funds to ship packages to the deployed troops, businesses in Overbrook are chipping in to support “Operation Roll Out.” On Sept. 11, motorcycles will descend upon the town with saddle bags full of items that can be shipped in care packages to the Alpha Company, 1st Platoon 3-7 Infantry in Iraq.

There will be several items for raffles, plus T-shirts, mugs and food for sale. For a list of items requested by soldiers, visit operationrollout.com, and for a complete itinerary of the day’s events call 785-218-3437.
