The Grassland Heritage Foundation is looking for volunteers to help eradicate purple loosestrife near the intersection of Atchison Avenue and Clinton Parkway.

Purple loosestrife is a dangerous invasive plant that has been illegal to sell in Kansas since 2002. However, the plant can still be found in the area, and the event will focus on removing the plant from a drainage area.

Help is needed from 9 a.m. to noon on Sept. 11. Volunteers are encouraged to bring shovels, pruning tools and gloves. Limited parking is available along Atchison Avenue, and carpooling is recommended. For more information, call 840-8104 or e-mail grasslandheritage@gmail.com.
