KU softball rips JCCC

Sophomores Maggie Hull, Rosie Hull and Mariah Montgomery batted in three runs apiece and the Kansas University softball team trounced Johnson County Community College, 16-1, on Wednesday in fall ball action at Arrocha Ballpark.

Kansas out-hit JCCC, 15-4.

Red-shirt junior Liz Kocon put the Jayhawks on the scoreboard with a home run in the first inning.

Kansas put the game out of reach with eight runs in the second to take a 10-0 lead.

KU freshman Kristin Martinez pitched the first three innings, junior Ashley Spencer pitched a scoreless fourth and sophomore Alex Jones closed the game.

Kansas will conclude the fall season on Saturday and Sunday at the Kansas Invitational at home. The Jayhawks on Saturday will face Seminole State Community College at 11 a.m., and Washburn at 1 p.m. On Sunday, KU will face Butler County Community College at 2 p.m. and Labette County Community College at 4 p.m.
